Dagos Speed Shop

Rene Astengo of Dagos Speed Shop held a  BBQ/Bullshit session to kick off  the Grand National Roadster Show this past weekend. It was really cool to meet some of the builders whose work I dig . Some of the attendees were Johnny Lizarraga, Rick and friends from Vancouver B.C. photographer Greg Bojorquez whom I havent seen in about 25yrs. Ben Salazar, Damon Leiataua , Ernesto Torres ,and friends. Good food, cold beer,  Great Friends, Good Times!

The first time I saw" The First Lady of the Blues" I was probably about 18-19 years old ,at the  L.A. street scene. What a live show and voice.  I had seen her a few times after once with Robert Cray at the Hollywood Bowl.

My cousin Louie Mendez is a fabricator with coach building and aerospace experience and will be offering 356 Porsche parts, this is only a sample of what he does. This is a 356A model front hood he produced for a original GT Carrera Speedster. Notice all gas welded seams and yes that hood was produced in one piece. He produced the accessories found on my 356B.  For those who are familiar with the original factory produced pieces they will see no difference in the details. More product and pricing to follow.

This is my buddie Walt Valjesic's 49 Chevy , this car has a textbook chop, although you can't learn that in school.

Jack Mc Afee

Jack was a great race driver he also had this shop back in the day in Burbank. He would later create the Mc Afee forged alloy wheel in pomona California. Wheels were for Porsche fittment and would use a crager 3 spoke nockoff type center cap.

One of the few period Porsche customs. That 356A coupe was/is a real 4-Cam Carrera, and has recently been fully restored to its Dean Jeffries vision ,down to the Maltese Cross torsion tube covers.
