VMF 214

Once in awhile I will stop in various second hand stores to take a quick look around.  If you know what your looking for you would be surprised at what you might find. I always check the used book section for History or auto/moto related books. So this time I find a first edition of  Col. Pappy Boyington's  book Ba Ba Black Sheep published in 1958. The story  is of his career in the Marine's as a pilot and leader of the famous Black Sheep Squadron.
What I wasn't expecting were the original newspaper clippings found in the pages.  The articles were printed in the Valley Times, a old San Gabriel Valley paper. Boyington lived here in his post war years.  Whoever owned the book had some kind of close connection to him or the squadron. The lower paper clipping speaks about some kind of domestic violence issue with his later divorced wife.

Chasing Tuna

Pacific Ocean Sunrise

San Clemente Island

Ben and I in the heat of the action!

New Lo-An deck hands kicked Ass!

Ben's Killer yellow tail tuna!

just a couple of the fish I caught .

Ben and a few guy's from his work put a overnight Tuna charter  together out of Point Loma Landing on the New Lo-An out of San Diego.
It's been a few years since I have done any sport fishing, which I used to do on a more regular basis. There is nothing like the sight and sound of a big fish tearing line off a reel! So when Ben talked about this trip I was all in. Sometimes because of work and life commitments we forget to make time for recreation or things that interest us, or  have brought joy to our life. But luckily when we come back to them we find that they are always there waiting for us. Big thanks to Paul for coordinating the trip. Oh yeah we killed it and brought in tons of yellowfin Tuna as pictured! Good times with good friends!

Mc Queen

This might be the best picture of this bike! I believe it to be a Rickman /Matisse frame Bonneville. Very cool cafe for the late 60's!
